Overview

Ladder Safety Essentials teaches you how to choose the right ladder for the task, inspect it before every use, and set it up and climb safely on the job. This course covers the hazards associated with improper ladder selection, damaged equipment, and unsafe climbing practices, along with the specific controls to address each. You'll also learn how stress, fatigue, and rushing can affect your safety decisions and why the most important safety check starts with you. An interactive simulation is available for desktop, mobile, and VR headsets. Drawn from OSHA Standard: 1910.23, 1926.1053, and industry best practices.

Objectives

On completion of this course the learner will be able to:

• Choose the right ladder for the task based on type, duty rating, and material.  
• Perform a pre-use visual inspection and identify defects that require a ladder to be taken out of service.  
• Set up and use a ladder safely using proper positioning, three points of contact, and safe climbing practices.  
• Take the correct steps when a ladder is damaged, defective, or conditions feel unsafe.
