Overview

Forklift accidents can happen in seconds. Tip overs, blind spots, and falling loads put everyone at risk, not just operators. The Forklift General Safety course teaches you how to stay safe in areas where forklifts commonly operate. You'll learn what makes forklifts unstable, how to recognize danger zones, and what to do when a forklift is nearby.  An interactive simulation is available for desktop, mobile, and VR headsets. Drawn from OSHA Standards 1910.22, .176, .178, 1926.21, .602, and industry best practices.

Objectives

On completion of this course the learner will be able to:

  • Describe how forklift risks differ between warehouse and construction site environments.
  • Recognize pedestrian zones and explain why staying in them prevents accidents.
  • Explain how forklift stability changes when loads are raised or unbalanced.
  • Identify visibility hazards and describe how operators use horns and lights to warn others.
  • Recognize safe practices for working around forklifts, including seatbelt use and proper parking.
