Overview
Trenches don't give warnings before they fail. The Trenching Awareness course prepares construction workers to identify trenching hazards, understand how protective systems work, and respond when conditions change. Through real-world scenarios, an interactive VR simulation, and a short quiz, learners will build the awareness and confidence to make safer decisions on the jobsite. An interactive simulation is available for desktop, mobile, and VR headsets. Drawn from OSHA Standard:1926.650 - .652, and industry best practices.
Objectives
On completion of this course the learner will be able to:
- Recognize hazards that can develop in and around trenches.
- Identify the protective systems used to prevent cave-ins.
- Understand the competent person's role and your responsibility to speak up.
- Know what safe access into and out of a trench looks like.
- Know what to do in an emergency, and what not to do.
